A Deep Dive Into ZeTime

Designed in Switzerland, this device is a mix of the classics and 21st-century technology at an economical price. This ingenious hybrid smartwatch was launched by MyKronoz ZeTime in January 2013.

In 2017, MyKronoz ZeTime ran the largest crowdfunding campaign that generated the world’s highest funded hybrid smartwatch. Having raised over $8M from over 40,000 backers in more than 100 countries made MyKronoz the first European company to achieve the standing as the most-backed product that year.

ZeTime’s first hybrid smartwatch includes groundbreaking technology combined with the classic design of a traditional timepiece. It is uniquely designed with mechanical hands placed in the center of a full round high-resolution TFT color touchscreen. ZeTime is so smart that its movement technology arranges the hands horizontally so you can read notifications.

No need to manually set the time on this smartwatch, as it automatically updates the time, based on your location. That is due to the proprietary smart movement technology involved in making this device thanks to ZeTime’s CPU, which controls the mechanical hands. Each hand is connected to its own motor which allows them to move independently of each other. That is why when reading or browsing notifications the hands can move horizontally to maximize your screen visibility.

Combining the best of well known Swiss tradition in watchmaking plus the advanced features of a smartwatch, ZeTime is intended for being worn all day and every day. The mechanical hands make it possible for this device to automatically update the time, according to the time zone on your phone.

On a single charge, the smartwatch will work up to 30 days, saving you time from needing to charge it on a daily basis.

Who’s It For?

As technology continues to expand, options continue to be added to smartwatches as people need them for many more uses than just telling time. The apps range continues to grow in order to meet the varied needs and conveniences of this generation.

ZeTime is definitely a smartwatch for the ‘A’ type personality. The one who is always on the go and must know what is going on at all times – 24 hours a day 7 days a week. This product is for the customer who wants to sync up all of their personal devices because they must stay current no matter what else they are doing – even when relaxing.

ZeTime keeps you connected with everything at all times. Life is pretty busy and if you hold by the motto ‘less is more’ then having more in this one compact product offers you peace of mind as you go about your day-to-day lifestyle.

What We Like About ZeTime

ZeTime Smart Movement is the company’s patented technology that has redesigned the mechanical watch hands to be controlled by the watch processor through the app instead of the traditional regular side crown. This allows the watch hands to be able to function and yet stay off to the side so you can read the screen being able to focus on what is important to you.

Keeping track of your health and fitness metrics this smartwatch is possible with the 3-axis accelerometer and optical heart rate sensor. Track both your daily activities and your sleep patterns. You can see your heart rate throughout the day, gauging your performance. If you have not been sufficiently active then its inactivity alert will remind you that you want to take a little time and move your body.

All smart notifications are displayed on its high-resolution color touchscreen, including all incoming calls, emails, texts, social media, and calendar events. How easy ZeTime makes it for you to keep up-to-date with all the information that matters the most to you.

ZeTime is also designed to be used remotely, for example, you can take pictures, play, pause, and skip tracks – all directly from your wrist. Also included is the “find my phone” feature and ZeTime will make the phone vibrate or ring to find its location easily.

Download the free app to set up your smartwatch and you can easily connect ZeTime to any iOS and Android smartphones via Bluetooth. Then you can sync all of your activities and sleep data, choose the notifications you want to get at your wrist, download exclusive watch faces, and more! This smartwatch is compatible with MyKronoz ZeTime Regular, MyKronoz ZeRound, and other 39mm watch cases.

Once ZeTime is in sync with a smartphone it will operate in many capacities to give you what you want by displaying all of the important information that you have arranged from your phone to view on the smartwatch’s TFT color touchscreen (SMS, WhatsApp, social media notifications, calendar events, and reminders).

If you love the Swiss design of traditional watches then you will appreciate the mechanical watch feature, which unlike standard smartwatches, does not need to be turned on in order to read the time.

What We Don’t Like About ZeTime

Quality assurance of the product is seriously lacking. It appears it needs frequent calibration due to the fact that the dial is off-center and not placed properly.

It has been noticed by customers that on the watch face when viewed in the dark, there appears to be a black crescent From 3 to 8 o’clock.

The top push button can lose its springiness after the first few days of usage. After that, for it to function it becomes necessary to push the button quite hard. A few days of nonuse could also make the button difficult to push but it seems that after a few pushes it retains its original tension.

The weather application does not automatically sync with any location outside of Geneva, Switzerland nor does manually setting the weather location seem to fix the problem.

Users have found the step counter to be unreliable as it identifies step goals being reached when the user has been inactive during the day.

Notifications are erratic and unreliable. Some will show up a few times, and then will stop displaying on the gadget for hours at a time. Customers have found the mechanical hands never moved away from the 12 o’clock position.

Customers have found the smartwatch working well only for a few days just fine. Be aware that if the smartwatch submerged in water like when taking a swim you will run the risk of ruining the crystal making the device unusable.

Overview Of Features

MyKronoz ZeTime introduced to the world the first hybrid smartwatch, where tradition meets modern technology, old meets new as you can see with the mechanical hands that are mounted in the center of ZeTimes’s full-service TFT color display touchscreen.

The classic Swiss design merged with ZeTime’s proprietary ‘Smart Movement’ technology gives you a long-lived battery that can do its job for up to 30 days with a single charge. The main time telling function continues to perform in its traditional manner while sharing the spotlight with the advantageous technological features of a smartwatch.

While checking the time you are able to see any and notifications for calls, emails, messages via phone, social media, check your calendar, and any other favorite apps that you wish to stay current. The watch hands are not in the way of you viewing any other features you set up with this smartwatch.

ZeTime tracks your daily activity, your sleep pattern, and monitors your heart rate throughout the day, supporting you to maintain your optimal goals in fitness and health. While walking or working out you can check the weather, which helps you find out if it is a good day to be outside for your work out. This band also plays music and takes photos.

Created to conform to any style you choose, ZeTime’s elegant and aesthetic features include a sleek stainless steel watch case, sapphire glass, and a variety of interchangeable digital watch faces and bands.

ZeTime is designed to seamlessly connect to iOS and Android smartphones through Bluetooth technology. All you need to do is download the free app from your smartphone and then you can set up your smartwatch.

The two devices will sync your activities and sleep data. You can choose the notifications (text/SMS, emails, social media, etc.) that you want to access right from your wrist, in addition to downloading exclusive watch faces and that’s not all!

Fitness Tracking VS Smartwatch

What you need in the area of smartwatches/fitness trackers all depends on your priorities that support your lifestyle. Convenience is usually a priority. And you probably would prefer to avoid having to strap two gadgets on your wrist with ZeTime.

It is true that many smartwatches in the market are capable of tracking basic activity, like steps, but you need to do more research for other features that you want to have that makes your life simpler.

Battery Life

I’m certain that if you take a poll you will find most people would prefer to have a smartwatch with a good and strong battery life. Unfortunately, that is not a common commodity in this industry. Even when you are not using the health and fitness trackers or other features when the device is passively on you can see the battery charge diminishing throughout the day.

The many “passive” features that use the battery include the full-color display which is common with Apple Watch and Wears OS watches. Batteries tend to last for no more than a day on a single charge, and that means part of your nightly routine is to put both your phone and smartwatch on a charger as part of your pre-bedtime routine.

Some people are content to have a watch that has a screen that will automatically turn off after just a few seconds when it is not in use. This is because it does save some battery life. So in order to check the time, the display must be activated either by pressing a physical button or it is motion-sensitive and will turn on by holding it up to your face. For this type of watch, the battery will generally last around four days before needing a charge.

Many people are drawn to the ability to stream music during their workouts while leaving their phones back in the gym locker room or at home. Some don’t like to be completely cut off from contact so the ability to sync the smartwatch to the smartphone together with a cellular connection can certainly come in handy.

Review Summary

So what we have here is a hybrid smartwatch made of high-quality materials including stainless steel clasps and sapphire glass. The smart mechanical hands sit on a high-tech color touch screen and you can have variety with the changeable watch faces and a replaceable quick-release 39mm wide silicone watchband that needs no tools to swap out with other bands.

Powered by one Lithium-ion battery that can last 39 days on one charge using the USB charging cord and base this device is 5 ATM water-resistant so plan your water activities accordingly.

For fitness/health tracking this watch seems to cover all the bases as well as telling time.
