About the Role

The Program Manager in Implementation Science for Lung Cancer Screening plays a crucial role in managing research projects to inform Australia’s National Lung Cancer Screening Program. Funded by the Medical Research Future Fund, the role involves overseeing the ‘Ready to Screen’ implementation trial, managing stakeholder engagement, and ensuring effective collaboration across teams. Reporting to the Head of the Evaluation and Implementation Science Unit, the appointee leads project planning and stakeholder communication to support successful program implementation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing [NR2]  overall program organisation including day-to-day grant operations with provision of leadership guidance to participating staff.
  • Developing high-level project plans and works with team members to build work stream specific project plans, ensuring an accurate and consistent definition of project phases, objectives, work activities and tasks, timing, milestones and program deliverables.
  • Providing effective project management of activities and deliverables ensuring the delivery of high quality outcomes is realised within set budget parameters and agreed time frames.
  • Designing project processes, disciplines and operating models to support the development and implementation of project plans and governance structures.

Who We Are Looking For

You will excel in this role with your excellent communication skills and strong organisational abilities. Your negotiation and influencing skills, coupled with relationship management expertise, will enable effective collaboration with stakeholders and leadership in achieving shared goals. Additionally, your proven ability to resolve conflict and motivate teams underscores your effectiveness in leading and mobilising others toward success.

You will also have:

  • A postgraduate qualification in public health, health policy or health services management or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education.
  • Highly developed skills in strategic operational, business planning and or policy analysis.
  • High level experience with Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) applications, research grant applications and research governance.
  • Financial management experience and literacy, experience managing budgets and controlling income and expenditure across complex work programs.
